At the meeting, the Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee gave overview information on the socio-economic situation as well as the potential and strength of tourism development of the province in recent years; at the same time, he emphasized that cooperation activities with the US were strongly promoted by Quang Binh province. In which, the province coordinated to search for American soldiers missing in action (MIA) in the war; The US Embassy in Hanoi also sent volunteers to teach English to Quang Binh University and Vo Nguyen Giap Gifted High School; organized English scholarship program, improved English teaching capacity for teachers in the area…From 2003 to now, the US has sponsored Mine Advisory Group (MAG) to carry out the Mines and Explosives Clearance Project in Quang Binh. In 2020, the US financed 5.5 million USD for foreign non-governmental organizations to implement projects on overcoming the consequences of landmines and explosives remnants of the war in Quang Binh province. In addition, the US Government also sponsored many valuable and practical humanitarian programs and projects, especially construction of a number of schools and medical stations in disadvantaged areas in the province; sponsoring the implementation of the "Biodiversity Conservation Project” in the period of 2020 - 2025; "Sustainable Forest Management and Biodiversity Conservation Project” in Phong Nha - Ke Bang area.

Addressing at the meeting, Mr. Paul Grove expressed his thanks for the warm reception of the leaders of Quang Binh province; at the same time, he pledged to promote cooperation with Vietnam in general and Quang Binh province in particular in various fields, including war recovery, humanitarian assistance, and committed to accompany Vietnam in provision of vaccine and fight against the Covid-19 pandemic.
