The aid was directed towards addressing various issues including war legacies, social welfare, education, training, and livelihood support, the department said.
In total, 34 NGO programs and projects were implemented throughout last year, with 15 new initiatives securing total funding of US$2.1 million.
Among the initiatives, the Mines Advisory Group (MAG), a British NGO, has been actively operating in Quang Binh since 2014. This project has been instrumental to collecting information and clearing bombs and mines in the province.
Tens of thousands of explosive devices have been detected and safely disposed of.
At a recent meeting, Hoang Xuan Tan, vice chairman of the provincial People’s Committee, expressed gratitude to the NGOs for their invaluable contributions to the socioeconomic development of Quang Binh.
