Building the Vietnamese armed forces

During peaceful years, General and Commander-in-chief Vo Nguyen Giap focused on building the armed forces following the guideline of gradually becoming a regular modern army, being prepared for a new long-term resistance war, protecting the North, liberating the South and carrying out international tasks.

Chemical, radar, armored tank, navy, air-force, commando forces were founded to fulfill the demands of new tasks. General Vo Nguyen Giap took care of an forces in the Viet Nam People’s Army.
