The Bien Gioi (Border) Campaign 1950
The Vietnamese People’s Army annihilated and captured 8,000 enemy soldiers, liberating a border area of 750 kilometers long with 350,000 inhabitants. The Viet Bac resistance base was consolidated and enlarged, becoming connected with other socialist countries. This victory was a turning-point that took the Resistance to a new level: Viet Nam took an actively strategic position on the battlefield.
