Contributions of General Vo Nguyen Giap highlighted

An exhibition, “General Vo Nguyen Giap–Commander-in-Chief”, displaying 300 photos and exhibits on the General’s life and career, was opened in Hanoi on October 15th by the Vietnam Military History Museum, in the presence of Senior Lieutenant General Ngo Xuan Lich, Director of the General Department of Politics, and other generals, high-ranking officers, veterans, cadres, troops, youth, people and international visitors.

Divided into six sections, the General’s childhood, the General in the resistance wars against French and American invaders, the General in national construction and defence, the General with international friends and the General in daily life, the exhibition shows the General’s great contributions to the revolutionary cause of the Party and the Nation and army building cause. It aims to help Vietnamese people and international friends, especially the youth, learn more about the life and career of General Vo Nguyen Giap, the Eldest Brother of the Vietnam People’s Army and the most excellent disciple of President Ho Chi Minh.

Photos of General Vo Nguyen Giap tending flowers in his garden, visiting and inquiring after heroic Vietnamese mothers, martyrs’ families and ethnic people, and receiving international friends, strongly impressed Vietnamese and international viewers.

Robbie Taylor, aged 28, from New Zealand’s Embassy in Vietnam, said that he was amazed at the Vietmamese people’s admiration and special sentiment for the General. Photos of General Vo Nguyen Giap helped him learn more about the beloved and famous General in the world.

Yann Mabille, 37, from France, said that he knew the French defeat at the Dien Bien Phu Campaign by General Vo Nguyen Giap in 1954. Many Frenchmen have admired General Vo Nguyen Giap and the Vietnam People’s Army.

Having visited the exhibition, Senior Lieutenant General Ngo Xuan Lich wrote in the museum’s remembrance album that he was moved when seeing these photos and exhibits, reminding him of the nation’s magnanimous time.

The bright example of General Vo Nguyen Giap is deserved to be followed by millions of Vietnamese people and international friends.

The same day, the Museum and the Museums of Logistics and Air Defence-Air Forces opened an exhibition, “Moments without gunfire”, to display 500 photos and exhibits to help young generations learn more about the strength of revolutionary troops.
