Hoang Phuc pagoda: Ancient landmark with a history of over 700 years
Hoang Phuc Pagoda is more than 700 years old, making it one of the oldest pagodas in central Vietnam.
Hoang Phuc Pagoda is located in Thuan Trach village, My Thuy commune, Le Thuy district, Quang Binh province. The pagoda is more than 700 years old, making it one of the oldest pagodas in central Vietnam.
Through many ups and downs of history, the devastation of time and war, the pagoda was left in desolation. After that, it was restored and reconstructed based on the original design, dating back to the Tran Dynasty.
The newly restored pagoda is situated on the ground of the old Hoang Phuc pagoda and its expanded area. Even before entering the pagoda, one would be able to see two 9-level towers right behind the three-door gate, and an ancient well in the yard that is still in use today.
With its significant cultural and historical values, in December 2015, Hoang Phuc Pagoda was recognized as a National Historic Site.
The pagoda serves not only as a place for practice of beliefs and religion for the local residents, but also as a destination for travelers from far and near to visit and pay respect to the Buddha.
