Nguyen Huu Canh’s Tomb

Nguyen Huu Canh tomb located on a high hill where have airy trees of An Marketing mountains under Truong Thuy commune, Le Thuy district, Quang Binh province. Nguyen Huu Canh was a great mandarin under the Nguyen King for fight the enemy, open territory, defind the territory of Vietnam into a unified country.

Nguyen Huu Canh was born in 1650 in Phuoc Long Hamlet, Chuong Tin, Phong Loc district (now is Van Ninh commune, Quang Ninh, Quang Binh province). He was given the title Le Thanh Hau, National Public Opening Spirit, listed in The Spirit Level and Upper-class Thai Temple Church. He died on May 9th 1770, was buried at Cu Lao Pho beside Tran Bien palace of Dong Nai. By 1802, remains of Nguyen Huu Canh was moved and buried in Truong Thuy commune by descendants.

Currently, in campus of Nguyen Huu Canh’s tomb in Quang Binh also has a valuable stone stela. Nguyen Huu Canh’s stone stele is about 1.2 m high, was carved from green stone (marble). After his death, the Southern people and especially the province of Cuu Long delta that established temples to worship him in several places.

Although several centuries have gone but reputation of Nguyen Huu Canh still engraved forever on the Vietnamese in general and people of Quang Binh province in particular.
