International friendship
Politburo Member, Deputy Prime Minister, General Vo Nguyen Giap visited and thanked the people and Governments of supporting countries in the world on behalf of the Viet Nam Party and Government. Everywhere he went, he was warmly welcomed and highly appreciated for his talent and morality. The El Moudjahd Newspaper in Algeria wrote: "General Giap, more than a hero, belongs to the group of heroes whose stories would be told from generation to generation. Perhaps, even historians need fact data to avoid depicting the General as a legendary figure, and to adequately describe his achievements" (Article from El Moudjahd Newspaper, published on January 4, 1976 on General’s visit to Algeria).
General Vo Nguyen Giap’s great contributions were appreciated by historian Cecil B. Currey in his The Victory at any cost as: He has been the biggest military genius of the 20th century, and one of the biggest military geniuses of all time".
