Bao Ninh Village Festival
(Quang Binh Website) - Bao Ninh Village Festival is held from the 14th day to the 16th day of the fourth lunar month in Bao Ninh Commune, Dong Hoi City, Quang Binh Province. This is a traditional festival of people living in coastal areas in Quang Binh province.
Bao Ninh Communal house worships Nhan than (father and son of fisherman) and Ca Ong (whale).
The festival includes two parts: the procession of Ong’s bone from village to the communal house with "Ho khoan, cheo can" performance, bong (flower) dance; and sea festival involving the ceremony of floating paper boats, paper fish to the sea and praying, the boat race of six villages.
The festival reflects the spiritual and cultural life and religious beliefs of Bao Ninh people in particular and people in coastal areas in general.
The objective of the festival is to pray for calm sky and smooth sea, good weather and a bumper crop.
