Two resorts worth a try on your Quang Binh cave expedition

With Quang Binh Province famed for its cave tours, named among best travel experiences by global travel sites, here are two ideal resorts near Phong Nha-Ke Bang National Park.

For many tourists on cave tours to Son Doong, Tu Lan and Tien in Quang Binh Province, Chay Lap Farmstay, around 20 kilometers from Phong Nha-Ke Bang National Park in Bo Trach District, is one of the most favored accommodation facilities thanks to its natural landscape and green farms.

It has 41 rooms -14 farm rooms with unique floating houses designs, 11 garden rooms, and 16 mountain rooms.

Each bungalow is designed with domed architecture, paneled with pine wood and tiled with bamboo.

According to seasoned travelers, between March and April are the most ideal time of the year to explore Son Doong, the world's largest natural cave where the number of tourists remains limited due to environmental concerns.

Chay Lap also has a giant hand model, simulating the symbol of the character Kong in the Hollywood blockbuster "Kong: Skull Island" filmed in Quang Binh in 2016.

Popular outdoor activities here are cycling, soccer, walking, and rowing on a small lake.

At Chay Lap Farmstay, there is also outdoor picnic activities in Chay village next to million-year-old limestone mountains and green forests.

Currently, Oxalis is the only private tour operator in Quang Binh licensed to operate adventurous tours to Son Doong and Tu Lan.

Since 2020, the price for a four-day expedition into Son Doong has been reduced to $2,500 per person from the previous $3,000 while a three-day tour of Tu Lan costs VND7.2 million ($315.33) per person.

Founded in 2018, Son Doong Bungalow in the heart of Phong Nha is also an ideal address due to its proximity to Son Doong Cave.

It has 13 guest rooms overlooking the Son River.

A night's stay costs from VND700,000.

It also features a restaurant, outdoor swimming pool, a bar and a garden in Phong Nha.

The highlight of the resort is an outdoor swimming pool stretching past all rooms.
